Halibut is a cold, deep-water fish and if you have ever caught one, they can feed not only your family of four, but your whole neighborhood! The two PureZing team members who used to live in Alaska have eaten lots and lots of it and are really impressed with the flavor and texture of this halibut.
This supplier only harvests smaller halibut. This ensures a clean and tender fish and you can taste the difference! The halibut that we tested was moist and almost sweet. The color was very light and clear and each piece looked perfect.
Halibut is easy to cook and as it is so mild it is a perfect choice for pastas, salads, appetizers and even soups. Our team members supplied us with an easy recipe called Poor Man’s Lobster that they used to fix in Alaska. It tastes just like lobster, but it doesn’t have the price tag or the hard to crack shell! Or try the light and flavorful recipe for Halibut with Oranges, Tomatoes and Olives or enjoy it in a fish taco!
The halibut arrives frozen and averages 6-ounce per serving. The filet is skinless and boneless and thaws easily in the refrigerator. The serving size is perfect for one person for dinner, or it can even be split for a light lunch. Gently simmer it in a broth, sauté it lightly, or quick cook it under a broiler or on a grill: just don’t overcook this moist and mild fish. We liked it hot out of the pan one evening and eaten cold with a dipping sauce the next day. However you fix this, you will be amazed at how great this fish tastes.
