Cyprus Black Salt Flakes

Cyprus Black Sea Salt Flakes
Salt Traders

Black salt! Not just from the Black Sea, but actual black salt! Chunky, flaked slivers that easily melt and crush in your mouth, sort of like a little explosion! It’s wonderfully healthy black sea salt.

The presentation is wonderful as well as functional: a thick, square glass jar with a deep cork lid keeps the salt dry and yet easily accessible. It’s the type of nice, simple container that you enjoy looking at and using, and you will probably hold onto it after the salt is gone, and find other uses for it. These containers come in two sizes: 1.2 ounces, or 4 ounces and the wide mouth of the jar makes it easy to pour salt into your hand to crush it with your fingertips if you choose, or just sprinkle with abandon.

The ingredients say 100% natural salt and activated charcoal powder. What is Activated Charcoal Powder? Simply burnt wood that has had all its oxygen removed. It is a non-toxic universal antidote that can be taken internally or applied topically. In powdered form, activated charcoal is one of nature’s most efficient adsorbentsa powerful aid in eliminating toxins, gas and many poisons from the human system. Provides relief for gas, diarrhea, swollen skin and more. So, not only is it a pretty salt with a nice crystalline crunch, it has, besides the sea salt, an ingredient that is healthy for your insides and outsides!

There is no fragrance and it is light and dry flaked slivers of mineral-rich sea salt from the Black Sea. A chef friend of the chef-owner, mixes this black salt with white flakes and calls it ‘Zebra’ salt. He has it in all the saltcellars on every table in his restaurant. I tried it and it looks wonderful in any colored dish or bowl!

The stunning uniqueness of this black beauty is interesting on white, green or red colored foods: fish, pasta, puréed leeks, tomatoes, turnips and potatoes. The chef-owner recommends putting it on the rim of a mango margarita and even supplies you with a recipe for watermelon and tomato salad that uses this interesting black food enhancer.

We’re all so blasé about salt, mindlessly reaching for it and taking it for granted. This is a salt to change anyone’s cavalier salt attitude. Distinctive, zingy, good for you, as well as decorative, this is a salt to try at least once in your life...and keep it on hand for those mango margaritas!
