WOW! Prepare for your nose to twitch, your mouth to water and your toes to tap! And that is just after opening this bottle of fragrant, Jamaican Jerk sauce! Once you put some in your mouth, your eyes will widen as the delicious and complex spice and tang turn to heat! This sauce is for heat lovers, but the important twist to this is that you get flavor first, second, third and all the way through to the end…in spite of the heat: which you often don’t get with other sauces.

If you are familiar with Jerk Sauces they are all very spicy….and I mean seasoning, not heat. This Jerk sauce is spicy plus has the heat, due to three different types of peppers plus some cayenne thrown in for full measure. Zowy!

The ingredients are water, sugar, scallion, vinegar, tomatoes, Scotch Bonnet peppers, corn syrup solids, salt, mustard seed, ancho peppers, molasses, cayenne pepper, Habanero pepper, onion, spices, natural flavor, citric acid and xanthum gum.

The texture is smooth but flecked with lots of spices, the consistency is medium as you can pour it but it will cling to foods, and the aroma and flavor are spicy, spicy, spicy… hot!

We love this sauce, even though it’s hotter than what we usually eat. The flavor is superb and complex, and regardless of the heat, you can still ‘taste’ the flavor and appreciate it even though your mouth is zinging and zowing! The judges loved this sauce and gave made it a silver finalist in the yet to be announced category of Outstanding Appetizer, Antipasto, Salsa or Dip in this year’s Sofi Awards Competition. This sauce was also a winner in the Caribbean Style Hot Sauce category of the Golden Chile Awards for 2008. Before you think that this was just a fluke, this sauce also took 2nd place in 2007 at America’s Best Awards, as well as being a winner in the 2007 Scovie Awards. Pretty good, huh? So’s the sauce!

This sauce is so rich in flavor that you will want to try it on both chicken and all red meats. The overriding suggestion for use of this sauce would be to make Jerk Chicken Wings. One of the creator’s suggestions is Sweet Sunshine’s Jamaican Chicken Salad and is sounds easy and delicious! For those more faint of heart, we suggest that you add it to some other stew or chile recipes where the flavor and spices will contribute to your end result…but the heat won’t have you under the table. This is a winner (four times!!)…and will be with you too if you love spicy full flavor and kinda hot at the same time. This is super Zingy!
